Supermarkets in Japan are totally different.  Compared to the supermarkets in  San Mateo I think Japanese supermarkets are less crowded and  they sell packages in small quantities. The most surprising things I learned were  that Japanese super markets sold a lot of fish, tofu,  and also a lot of green tea, the apples were individually wrapped.
